On the unused island platform of Northfield Station is a sculpture called Town and Country, dating to 1993 by the artist Rosemary Terry. There is also a similar sculpture outside the station.
Where is Town and Country?
Town and Country is a public artwork located at Northfield Station on the island platform 2 and 3. It can be seen from platforms 1 or 4, or from the train on the Cross City Line.
In brief
Railway sleepers reused as sculptures in the middle unused platforms 2 & 3 at the station. Eleven components based on images of the town and country. The town at one end, the country at the other. Made in 1993 by the artist Rosemary Terry. Some of them resemble keys or screwdriver heads.
